You can’t make either life or art,
you have to work in the hole in between,
which is undefined.
That’s what makes the adventure of painting.
– Robert Raushenberg

Create the space and then move forward into that.  It’s so much nicer than trying to force your way forward.  We pick a pose and do the work.  And the work usually isn’t where you think it’s going to be.  Which is another way of saying the effort will come and find us and it may not be where we’d like it to be.  The adventure is in finding and then holding the space and filling it with something beautiful.

* THINKING Made VISUAL *

I LOVE any conversation that inspires a discussion on how the world takes shape around us based on what we think.   The way we choose to lay lines down on a page in a drawing, color for a design, make or create anything is another form of thinking.  Usually inspired by what we feel first.  Our inner worlds mirrored in a way that is beyond what can be explained entirely.  Lucky for us.

Don’t get me wrong, I love words too, but they don’t tell the whole story.  We are as much what we do and create as much as what we speak and say.

Our yoga mats are mirrors, it’s actually called Maya in Sanskrit.  We get a reflection of how we make choices, talk to ourselves, design our lives around what we think.

Thanks Saul…you were amazing.  Still are.

+ PICK It NOW +

Whatever you choose, pick it now,
start small,  and begin proving to yourself that you can become the type of person you want to become.
Tiny habits, when repeated consistently,
can be the difference between success or failure, confidence or doubt, and even happiness or depression.

I Originally posed this here but wanted to repost because this quote has kind of become an anthem for us in class these days.  It’s loaded with good advice in a simple way that’s easy to remember.
